Let’s take a look at Glorious’ latest keycap offing in their GPBT line, KABUTO!
DISCLAIMER: Glorious sent me these keycaps free of charge for an honest review. My opinions are 100% my own and are in no way in fact influenced by Glorious in any way, shape, or form.
The Packaging was a lot smaller than most keycaps these days. Reminiscent of the size of box Osume uses, but no where near as nice. Although there is a sticker on the outside alerting you to the fact that this a Limited Edition Set.

So, what’s included? 142 Dye Sub PBT Key caps including novelty mods, alternates for things like your Enter and Esc keys, and a keycap puller. You also get a “Quick Start” card, a sticker of the Glorious Logo, and a registration card with a QR Code on it that lets the user know that they will receive an additional year warranty on these keycaps upon registration.

Going over the keycap I realized this kit ONLY includes 6.25u spacebar. Also, while the set does provide an ISO Enter, it does NOT provide stepped Caps or Control. Split Backspace enjoyers need not apply… 😢

The texture on these keycaps is pretty standard as far as PBT sets go. They somehow feel lighter than other PBT keycaps, which I suspect is due to the lack of the more ubiquitous cylindrical stem support. Somehow, the plastic doesn’t seem to feel as “dense” as other keycaps as well…

As far as PBT keycaps go, they aren’t too bad. PBT tends to have a “glassy” sound to it, in my opinion, and also can sound deeper and a little muted compared to ABS. There are companies that are doing double-shot PBT like Wuque Studios and PBTFans that I feel helps them to not only feel more premium, but also sound more like their double-shot ABS counter-parts.
You don’t have to take my word for it as I have recorded sound-clips for the GPBT KABUTO keycaps, as well as some others I was using to compare. Enjoy!
